Call for solidarity NTUC Cartel ALFA

Dear Colleagues,

 Please note that our colleague Doru Florin-Bumb, President of SISTEM Orăştie trade union, affiliated with NTUF SOLIDARITATEA METAL, federation affiliated to NTUC "Cartel Alfa", has entered a hunger strike on the morning of 06.12.2011.

The National Trade Union Confederation "Cartel ALFA" expresses its solidarity with the SISTEM Orăştie trade union presidents protest and expresses its deep indignation against the harassment actions of the trade union leader by SC Sogeco Romania SRL management.

We emphasize that, for 2 years management has applied numerous disciplinary actions against the union leader due to his trade union activity which represents a serious violation of trade union rights, stipulated in social dialog law nr. 62 of 2011, and even human rights.

Whatever problems SC Sogeco Romania SRL is facing, and no matter how difficult the period in which we live is, these kind of anti-union and undemocratic actions are unacceptable.

NTUC "Cartel ALFA" calls for the SC Sogeco Romania SRL management to stop the harassment directed at the trade union president of SISTEM Orăştie.

Given that Philips is trying to be a real partner in the European Social Dialogue, we want to draw to your attention the case of our colleague from Romania, Doru Florin-Bumb from SC Sogeco Romania SRL, a company under the patronage of Philips, whose fundamental trade union rights are violated by the company management.

We ask, giving your openness for social dialogue, to halt the intimidation and firing attempts of the trade union leader by the management of SC Sogeco Romania SRL.
