Bring the Original Dark Skies Back on a Streaming Service — and Let the Creators Continue the Story with New Programming
From 1996 to 1997, Dark Skies delivered twenty hours of ambitious television, blending an alien-incursion mythology with the political and cultural tensions of 1960s America. Over the years, the series has built and maintained a deeply loyal following — and today that audience is growing again as interest in UFO/UAP stories rises and as Sound, Light & Frequency, the podcast hosted by Dark Skies creators Bryce Zabel and Brent Friedman, introduces the show to a new generation.
Part of what makes Dark Skies so compelling is that it was never “just another sci-fi series.” During the show’s original production, Zabel and Friedman say they were approached by men who appeared to be real-life “Men in Black,” individuals who allegedly offered insider UFO information in exchange for the inclusion of certain ideas in the series. That extraordinary story has become a continuing thread in Sound, Light & Frequency and has only intensified public curiosity about the original show. (Continue reading after the image...)

Right now, however, people who want to watch Dark Skies face a frustrating problem: the series is not currently streaming, and the DVD release that kept it accessible for years is no longer in distribution. At the very moment public interest is surging, the series itself has become unnecessarily difficult to find.
We, the undersigned, respectfully ask the rights holders of Dark Skies to:
-
Make the original series available again by working with a streaming platform to bring all episodes to audiences worldwide.
-
Preserve and promote the show’s legacy for longtime fans and first-time viewers alike.
-
Consider reconnecting with the original creators, Bryce Zabel and Brent Friedman, to explore a reboot, continuation, or new extension of the Dark Skies story — one that can carry forward the world they created and the mythology that still resonates nearly three decades later.
Dark Skies was ahead of its time. The audience is here. The interest is real.
Now is the time to bring it back.
