Wickliffe Schools Wrestling Team
My name is Jeffrey Carroll, and I am a proud 2017 alumnus of Wickliffe High School. I am writing to formally petition for the reinstatement of the Wickliffe High School wrestling program and to request consideration to serve as Head Wrestling Coach should the program be approved.
Wrestling has long been a cornerstone sport that builds discipline, accountability, mental toughness, and academic responsibility. Beyond athletics, wrestling teaches students perseverance, respect, and self confidence qualities that extend into the classroom and the community. The absence of a wrestling program has left a gap for students who thrive in individual accountability sports and who may not otherwise participate in school athletics.
As an alumnus and former student-athlete, I have a deep personal connection to Wickliffe High School and its community. My goal is not only to bring back a sport, but to build a safe, structured, and positive program that reflects the values of the district. I am committed to student development, academic accountability, sportsmanship, and collaboration with school administration.
If approved, I am prepared to:
Work closely with school administrators and the athletic department,
Meet all district, state, and OHSAA coaching requirements,
Emphasize academic eligibility and character development
Foster a culture of discipline, respect, and community pride
Assist with recruitment, fundraising, and program sustainability
The reinstatement of the wrestling program would provide new opportunities for student engagement, increase athletic participation, and strengthen school spirit. Many surrounding districts successfully support wrestling programs with positive academic and behavioral outcomes, and Wickliffe students deserve the same opportunity.
We, the undersigned students, parents, alumni, and community members, respectfully request that the Wickliffe City School District Board of Education approve the reinstatement of the wrestling program and consider Jeffrey Carroll as Head Wrestling Coach to lead and develop the program.
