If you took time out to study, to raise children, to care for a sick or elderly relative, the Irish government will not pay you a full pension. If you started earning at an early age, but had some gaps in earnings, their Average Rule will not favour you.
You could lose as much as €1500 a year in your pension. This will primarily affect women.
