It is unbelievable that residents find themselves homeless and with a huge financial burden because councils refuse to let them rebuild. Time for some common sense.Carole Phillips (Belgrave Heights, 2023-04-30)

I’m signing for multiple reasons: firstly, as a neighbour of The Guest Family, we just want them home where they belong - our community is not the same without them. Secondly, as our home in Kalorama is our “forever home” we would like to make sure that if another disaster strikes, and our home is damaged again, that we can return again. This does not only affect The Guest Family, but most people will not know the extent of the effect of this planning scheme until “it happens to them”.Rosslyn Lehmann (Kalorama, 2023-04-30)

it is necessary to change the current Yarra Ranges planning scheme to comply with AGS 2007 so that a moderate level risk is acceptable for EMO overlays. This will enable the owners of current, and future, disaster affected properties to more readily obtain planning permits.Liz Millman (FernyCreek, 2023-05-01)

Loosing a home is bad enough. Closing down paths to people getting new ones feels unacceptable.Jake Moore (Upwey, 2023-05-02)

I live in Mount Dandenong and was also significantly affected by the storms. It has ruined lives by not being able to rebuild and this antiquated law must change.Tracey Yeates (Mount Dandenong, 2023-05-03)

Council should be working FOR its ratepayers and residents, not hiding behind punitive and prohibitive red tape.Robyn Miller (Olinda, 2023-05-05)

The current planning scheme is ridiculous, stands in opposition of expert recommendations and does not serve the residents of the Yarra Ranges. It is a terrible injustice to disallow a resident to rebuild a home after the devastating loss of a home in a natural disaster, based on an outdated and unsuitable technicality in the planning scheme. Please amend the scheme.Jodi Shinkfield (Kalorama, 2023-05-05)

I have followed the Guest family's situation since I met Natalie professionally in 2021. I believe the council should review a planning scheme which has allowed a one a 100,000 landslip risk assessment be considered moderate and which has caused incredible hardship to a family already traumatised by the loss of their home.Jenny Toohey (Caulfield, 2023-05-05)

I believe Australian Standard allows for Dwellings to be built with moderate risk rating. This amendment will support landowners who have already suffered the June storms.Manjusha Pitty (Melbourne, 2023-05-06)

I believe residents of Yarra Ranges should not be prevented from re building their homes on their land following natural disasters. This is a law that needs to be changed to allow re building to commence as soon as possible.Elizabeth Ann Stormer (Warburton, 2023-07-14)

Because living in the Dandenongs is a risk. This does not mean we should have to loose everything we invested in, and not just financially.Mardi Cuming Davies (Selby, 2023-07-14)

Leaving people unable to rebuild houses in the Dandenongs is untenable. People everywhere understand risk factors from their living environments ie storms or fire and must be allowed to take responsibility for that. If necessary to sign a legal waiver to negate council responsibilty.Lucy Roe (Mt Evelyn, 2023-07-14)

As a resident of Kalorama, in the Yarra Ranges, I too have an EMO on my property and I am sickened to think that should a natural disaster or other event cause my home to be lost, we too coyld be in the awful position of being unable to rebuild, such as the Guest family. I implore Council to apply some common sense and allow our neighbours to rebuild their home where it once stood!Jennifer Harford (Kalorama, 2023-07-14)

Owners should be allowed to rebuild their homes after a natural disaster or any major damaged in fact. This is unethical and just plain unfair.Shona Tesoriero (Mount Dandenong, 2023-07-14)
