#44

To keep our community safe!

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-10)

#45

I support this petition in hopes in gaining Far North District Council’s necessary consent and funding to install the critical need for appropriate lighting in streets that are at high risk. Adding adequate street lights to these high risk areas will enable people to safely and securely access their streets, properties and vehicles without fear of any further tragedies, therefore this will only enhance the general well-being and health of our entire community.

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-10)

#46

I agree that there should be appropriate lighting to ensure safety of people in Kaitaia

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-10)

#51

Because its necessary, lots of foot traffic on Allen Bell. Need to ensure their safety.

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-10)

#52

FNDC should be focussed on making environments safer for residents by providing sufficient street lighting and hazard less footpaths, especially for our areas like Allen Bell drive, jamieson and grigg streets.

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-10)

#59

Our streets are so dark and unsafe! Rate payers deserve to feel safe in their community day and night and this will definitely help!!!

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-10)

#61

Too many weirdos around these days you at least want to see them coming!

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-10)

#62

I support any positive community led initiatives that enhance our lovely town and its people, who should feel safe in participating in active recreation like walking.

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-10)

#63

So we can walk and be seen. Safety first!

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-10)

#64

I support a safe environment. I have seen positive and negative happening in my home town. Kaitaia used to be such a safe place, I want this to continue.

(Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#67

I am supporting the need for more street lights in and around Kaitaia for members of the public to be safe.

(Te Kao, 2020-06-11)

#75

30 plus years I've lived in Kaitaia, that's how long our streets have been without adequate lighting. It's ridiculous. I know of 2 street lights that went up on Pukepoto Rd last year.
However, the netball new carpark is lit up like a Xmas tree, that's funny!!

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-11)

#76

I care for the community and its people.

(Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#77

This has to change

(Taranaki, 2020-06-11)

#80

My friends and whanau walk these streets so I want them to be safe at all times

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-11)

#86

The street lights in our area are not adequate and makes it dangerous for those that want to stay active and walk the streets. There are many streets not only Allen Bell Puckey Ave Pukepoto Road routes all ages walk early morning and nights for exercise. It's dangerous and as a rate payer we should have there basic facilities for our community.

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-11)

#92

This is much needed

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-11)

#95

I live in Kaitaia and we need better lighting down the streets, a lot of people walk day and night and will be safer for the community

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-11)

#96

Not only these areas need better and safer lighting, Taipa, Cable Bay and The Karikari Peninsula areas also suffer from insufficient lighting!

(Karikari Peninsula, 2020-06-11)

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-11)

#111

I'm signing because the streets do need more lighting the streets are to dark

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-11)

#120

We need lights our streets are too dark. Help build a safer community

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-11)

#122

I believe the lighting throughout the suburban streets of Kaitaia is inadequate and therefore unsafe for pedestrians and motorists alike.

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-11)

#125

Need more lighting at nighttime

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-11)

#127

We need to have lights in the streets of kaitaia asap⁰

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-11)

#129

More light = less crime

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-11)

#130

I walk these streets too and agree lighting is an issue. We definitely need more to feel safer.

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-11)

#131

I totally agree, light that place up and make it safer. It been far too long our streets have had bad lighting.

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-11)

#134

Need better street lighting on Bonnett Rd. Street is unsafe at night due to insufficient lighting.

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-11)

#135

Family from Kaitaia

(Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#136

This needs to be adressed

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-11)

#139

Safety for our fellow New Zealanders. Safety and feeling secure in the community has to be for all. Let this happen for the Northern community. All concerning issues matter! #lettherebelight

(Mangere East, 2020-06-11)

#143

I support the kaupapa

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-11)

#144

I’m signing because Kaitaia gets so dark and dangerous around 6pm when it gets dark, many people leave town because they feel unsafe because they can’t see, and also Bonnetts needs more lighting down their street, the whole town does.

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-12)

#150

There is insufficient lighting in Kaitaia town centre and surrounding areas and would be great for all our people.

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-12)

#152

We need more lights in our town so people can feel safe n that thanks

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-12)

#157

Because I want our community to feel safer when walking our streets early in the morning and in the evening as not everyone has a car

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-12)

#158

Safety for people that walks early in the morining and at late in the after noon

(KAITAIA, 2020-06-12)

#159

No brainer. Women need to be and feel safe. Light yr streets please.

(WHANGAREI, 2020-06-12)

#161

Im in support of this pitition.

(Auckland, 2020-06-12)

#166

I care and I can

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-12)

#170

I agree

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-12)

#174

I agree with Sharlene Subritzky about the lack of street lighting in Kaitaia, township and surrounding streets. Oxford Street is seriously lacking night lighting, not to mention our main street which looks like a derelict town at night. Please make our town and streets safer.

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-12)

#175

I have to walk down West lane to my car after work and its scary and dark. One light by Bank Street but not further down. Lights not working. We deserve better. If Kumi road that goes no where can get sealed surely the council can afford light bulbs.

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-12)

#176

Most of our residential streets are very poorly lit. I agree this is a safety issue.

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-12)

#179

We are having intruders where we live

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-12)

#181

I live in Kaitaia, this has always been an ongoing problem. Not only walking around town but sitting in parked cars at night has proven to be unsafe and scary aswell

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-12)

#182

Completely agree that Kaitaia needs more Street lighting. This has been proven to help reduce crime in areas where lighting is implemented. It's a no brainers.

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-12)

#184

Benefits of added street lighting would include: 1. walking in restricted areas 2. Identifying bridges a safety hazard for pedestrian and vehicles 3. Pedestrian density areas main streets leading to schools, centres, hospitals, walkways, rest homes, recreation centres etc 4. Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design [CPTED] principles 5. reduced risk of injuries 6. added security for homes and businesses 7. Adding value to areas 8.business for local electricity companies.

As a rate payer I’d like to challenge the Far North District Council to walk our streets and ask if they feel safe?

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-12)

#187

Because this has been an issue for so long. Thanx Sharlene.

(Perth, 2020-06-12)

#189

I’m signing here because our lack of town lights is shocking. It’s not safe at all

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-12)

#190

I think this is important! Could we also get rid of roaming dogs too? And the dog poo and rubbish?

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-12)

#198

I tautoko Sharlene, we need to ensure our community is safe. The lack of Street lighting in Kaitaia has been an ongoing issue for years, it’s about safety, wellbeing and reducing crimes.

(Kaitaia, 2020-06-12)
