Better Policing at the Crystal Park Police Station

We, the residents of the Crystal Park Police Station precinct note with concern that for 2024 the murder rate for our precinct was 86 per 100 000 residents, resulting in the Crystal Park Police station having the third highest murder rates within the City of Ekurhuleni.

We call upon the Portfolio Committee of Police to urgently investigate and to report back to the community.

• The unacceptable high murder rate and the stations’ inability to address these crimes
• Whether the station has a strategy to reduce the murder rate
• The number of functional vehicles
• The number of SAPS officers allocated to the station
• The number of unsolved murder dockets
• Any other factors inhibiting the Police from doing their jobs
