Urge the Prime Minister of Singapore to reject Assoc Prof Faishal Ibrahim’s resignation

R Ridjal Noor · SG

Assoc Prof Faishal Ibrahim has submitted his letter of resignation to the Prime Minister of Singapore, and we ask that the government keep him in his ministerial position and roles as a Member of Parliament, serving the people of Singapore.

His work matters because Singapore needs experienced, steady public leaders who understand the realities people face and can keep serving without disruption. When a capable leader steps aside, the cost is not only political continuity; it is the loss of relationships, experience, and ongoing work that residents rely on.

Many Singaporeans see Assoc Prof Faishal Ibrahim as a good leader who has shown commitment, accessibility, and a serious approach to public service. In a time when people want stability, trust, and clear leadership, it would be a real loss to remove someone who has already built that trust and is still able to contribute.

The solution is simple: the Prime Minister should not accept this resignation, rescind it and should allow Assoc Prof Faishal Ibrahim to remain in office so he can continue serving the people of Singapore. That would preserve continuity, avoid unnecessary disruption, and keep an experienced hand in government at a time when effective leadership matters.

We therefore appeal to the Prime Minister of Singapore to reject the resignation and confirm that Assoc Prof Faishal Ibrahim should remain in his position. This decision would reflect respect for public service, confidence in proven leadership, and a commitment to keeping capable ministers where they can continue to do the most good.
