I am a concerned resident, and would like to be part of the solution to fixing these issues.

Agree with the statement above.
No emergency contact numbers. Michael the estate manger even told me once he is not available for any emergencies.
We have clearly very low capacity that cannot sustain all the residents. With Munyaka coming, this will be an every growing problem.
Balwin will gladly sell penthouses for R30m but don’t plan infrastructure properly.
Should this continue I will not continue to stay here.

I'm signing because I am a resident at apartment 374 and will never consider buying here. This is unacceptable.

I just wanted to let you know the power in the entire estate has again tripped and looks like we will be without power for another 24 -30 hours or more , it’s really ridiculous and unacceptable that such a big estate like Balwin has not made provision for the stability and capacity , we very worried what will happen when Munyaka is fully build and occupied , it will be much worse , they need to look at a permanent solution vs a temporary fix or else they will loose residents and it’s a false advertising of a great lifestyle , as we kept in the dark after load shedding , I am not sure what you as the owner can do , however the residents have a chat and they are extremely irate and using Twitter etc to express their unhappiness and for people to be aware of your investment and the poor infrastructure will depreciate the estate value if they don’t sort this out once and for all and take some type of ownership to get it sorted for the residents

Power outages up to 30 hours most recently after load shedding, frequent loss of water pressure, no feedback from the estate regarding restoration and residents following up and taking action more often then not

(Johannesburg, 2020-07-16)

#29

I’m signing because I live in the complex and going 28 hours without electricity is ridiculous.

(Johannesburg, 2020-07-16)

#31

I am so dissappointed that we paid so much to live here and pay oyr taxes but our facilities are so poor. I fear that we will struggle when Munyaka starts getting occupied

Frustrated with Balwin's poor infrastructure.
Power outages after load shedding because infrastructure cannot handle surge of electricity once loadsheddimg ceases.
This is an ongoing problem and looks like Balwin is not doing anything to sort this issue out.
They also do not accommodate recycling or separation of trash and yet they call themselves "eco friendly"
Poor estate management as well.
The list goes on

Absolutely dismal service from balwin and the estate managers at Kikuyu. They have no intention of resolving issues to keep residents and owners at satisfied.

Infrastructure (water, electricity) related problems

(Johannesburg, 2020-07-16)

#43

I'm signing because I agree with the above, pay way too much in levies and electricity to sit back and pretend to enjoy this. This is shockingly ridiculous!

Hi, I am signing because I am a resident at kikuyu and I am tired of all these issues. In addition to the issues on the petition their are severe moisture and mould issue that are not being resolved. Balwin needs to step up.

Balwin is not taking their residents serious. We are dealing with alot of issues that keep reoccurring and no one is taking a stand to fix them. We are now in the dark, just after load shedding has been suspended. This happened last Saturday as well and they haven't done anything about it. It's so disappointing. The estate manager is rude, we have groups where people have been sharing the screen shots of their communication with him. Balwin has to fix this. We bought here because of the good things they sold to us and not these experiences we are having now.

(Johannesburg, 2020-07-16)

The infrastructure at Kikuyu Waterfall is an absolute joke. Everything listed in this petition is true and needs to be rectified as soon as possible.

(Johannesburg, 2020-07-16)

Im an owner of a unit in Kikuyu

(Midrand, 2020-07-17)

I agree with this petition. I have only ever lived at one other complex and I have never experienced the issues that I have experienced here at Kikuyu. Water coming from the geysers is always cold, water pressure we are always struggling and we are at the top so it is even worse for us. The management have this nonchalant way of dealing with peoples issues, it is as if they are doing us a favor (not related to items out of their control).

(Johannesburg, 2020-07-17)

Constant power failures in Kikuyu complex

(Midrand, 2020-07-17)

#79

There infrastructure doesn’t have enough electricity to support the number of units being built in the estate.

I’m sick of Balwins false advertising and lack of interest in resolving their faults. The estate manager is never available or has his phone off at the most convenient times. Extended power outages seem to be a norm after Load shedding at Kikuyu. We also had burglary in our unit during early hours of the morning Of which the response of the security was pathetic because Balwin has only one tactic unit shared between Polo Fields and Kikuyu. The incident was uncalled for and could have been easily avoided had the armed guards been awake and equipped with two-way radios. After numerous enquiries we have been told that the matter is being dealt with by Balwin but we have had no communication to date regarding the incident. The way Balwin covered up their faults the very next day makes it seem like is was an inside job. Absolutely disappointed in these properties and have no trust in the promise they put forward.

I have been living at Kikuyu for 2.5yrs now. Since last year it has become more and more evident that there are underlying issues which are not being addressed that continue to affect us as residents and our families. I am gravely disappointed in the lack of urgency and concern that is displayed by Balwin. There are major infrastructure issues that resurface every other month, if its not water cuts over extended periods then it’s electricity. These are basic necessities that have become scarce at Kikuyu. We are going through a pandemic, dealing with load shedding during lockdown and working from home as instructed by government. We are facing pay cuts and retrenchments at work, yet we must pay all our dues to Balwin in full. Without electricity we are unable to work which affects our ability to earn an income. This is the 2nd time in this month alone that this is happening.

There’s another complex - Munyaka being build next to Kikuyu and yet the infrastructure capacity issues within Kikuyu have still not been dealt with. There is no accountability from Balwin nor transparency to the Kikuyu residents in dealing with this matter. Every time we ask property management what’s happening they either don’t have a full view of what’s happening right under their nose or they are just not forthcoming with information. This unacceptable, it’s affecting our families and livelihood.
