I’m a salon owner and need to keep working

I feel strongly that salons should not be closed down. Salons have not been spreading Coronavirus

(Minneapolis, 2020-11-06)

I am signing this petition because I know we can safely remain open. Shutting us down is unnecessary. Shutting us down will only cause additional financial hardship.

(Edina, 2020-11-06)

#15

I am a self employed hairstylist at Sola studio salons. I am asking please don’t shut us down!! This will put not only me and my family in a financial crisis but the thousands of other hairstylists and their family’s. Many of us are still trying to get back on track from the ten weeks we lost last spring. I didn’t receive unemployment until week 6 after closing. Unfortunate my husband was also out of work for 8 weeks. Please think about this seriously. I don’t know any confirmed cases of COVID either from stylist to client or client to stylist. We follow and take all the safety precautions and guidelines very serious.

I believe there is no reason to close salons! we are a service that is a necessity!
I owned a spa/salon for over 20 years! due to the sanitation required by the state of mn, we more than cover any type of sanitation deemed necessary for daily operations!
We have control of who we do service for!
Our rules are... client will not or do not come to get a hair service if you are sick in any way, as well as no cosmetologist is to go to work if they are sick in any way!

#30

My hairdresser has METICULOUSLY adhered to safety measures.

(Edina, 2020-11-06)

#41

It’s clear that people are following all the rules and protocols. Shitting them down will just exacerbate the stress felt by all and further hurt small businesses .

(Edina, MN, 2020-11-07)

#43

I’m signing this as I go to small salon and they are meticulous about following strict guidelines for safety and well being of staff and customers.

(South St Paul, 2020-11-07)

This is well written and accurately depicts the business and customer relationship and how business is conducted.

(Bloomington, 2020-11-07)

#45

I feel safe and protected in the salon.

(Lakeville, 2020-11-07)

#46

I am signing this because this salon takes extreme caution in protecting the clients. If people can continue to shop at big box stores these people should be open.

(Elk River, 2020-11-07)

#52

Salons should stay open!

(Brooklyn Park, 2020-11-07)

#55

I’m signing because this is my only source of income.

(Brooklyn Park, 2020-11-07)

#70

We have proven to be responsible with handling our clients safety as to not spread the virus and we deserve to stay open and work.

(Minneapolis, 2020-11-07)

#76

I am signing because the businesses cannot afford to close down again. All of the small businesses are going to be closing down if we keep this up. If the salons are following the cdc guidelines there should be no reason why they should be shut down.

(Apple Valley, 2020-11-08)

It appears that bars, restaurants, and family gatherings are the spreaders. What do these 3 have in common? Most involve alcohol. I have heard from resturant staff that drinkers do not follow the social distancing rules. Common sense is gone. I doubt the governor would try to outlaw public alcohol consumption (but maybe he should). Stats do not say that salons are "spreaders". No drinking there!

(Roseville, 2020-11-08)

#82

I sign because I am our family’s only source of income and We have no more savings left. We cannot afford financially or mentally to shut down again.

(Golden Valley, 2020-11-08)

#83

I truly believe that because of our strict safety protocols we are a lot risk at spreading covid

(West Saint Paul, 2020-11-08)

#86

I feel that my stylist does a fantastic job at keeping me and herself safe.

(Lakeville, 2020-11-08)

#94

I’m signing because I want to support small business stylists who have their own businesses to support their families.

(Chanhassen, 2020-11-09)

#96

I'm signing because my salon suite has had zero cases of covid. I'm diligent about sanitization. My clients are careful and respectful of wearing masks and social distancing.

(New Brighton, 2020-11-09)

#97

I am a salon suite owner and feel extremely safe at work and know my clients do as well..
we are now and have always followed all the rules layer out by the state of MN, cdc, and the MN Board of Cosmetology.

(Mpls, 2020-11-09)

#99

Iam a single suite salon owner that can not afford to be out of business.

(Apple Valley, 2020-11-09)

#100

I agree that salons shouldn’t have to shut down again due to all the safety and sanitation that we do on a daily basis. Plus wearing all the PPE. It’s hard enough as it is. I am also an cosmetology instructor and it really hurts to see my students not being able to take guests. Then wanting to shut down again and then putting their future careers on hold plus not being able to practice on human heads versus a mannequin. Makes a huge difference. A lot of us financial will not be able to deal with another shut down. Please consider this industry and not shutting us down again.

Thank you for you consideration,

Jessica Solie

Salons are safe! All protocols are followed and no one has contracted Covid from a salon.

(Minnetonka, 2020-11-09)

#103

People need their jobs and their clients need haircut

(Burnsville, 2020-11-09)

#104

I'm signing this because the hair salon I go to takes all the safety precautions required and I feel safe using their services. They need to work to make a living and are following the rules. Do not punish them for that.

(White bear lake, 2020-11-09)

#107

My salon has been following all the rules and it's my only social thing I have done since this pandemic has started.

(Bloomington, 2020-11-10)

#108

I need to work to survive and support myself and my daughter.

(Bloomington, 2020-11-10)

#109

Because it's essential for everyone

(Apple Valley, 2020-11-10)

#110

I am signing because i am just about to finish cosmetology school (3 weeks exactly) & already had to go through a shut down along with 300 hours of online school not counting. i was supposed to graduate in august and now i am supposed to be graduating the first week of December. I also work at a salon and i can ensure that salons are one of the cleanest places you can be at right now.

(Mahtomedi, 2020-11-10)

#112

I need to keep working!

(Paynesville, 2020-11-10)

#114

You can’t tell me my space is more dangerous than any big box store that has thousands of people going in and out each day! We have been following all the requirements, been sanitizing like mad, all to be shut down again when I’m the provider for my family, cause my husband also can’t get a job in his field due to Covid?! No, I do not accept this! You can not shut us down again! Most of us are scrapping by as it is, barley holding on.

(Burnsville, 2020-11-11)

#115

I am a stylist and need my job and my salon to survive and we won’t if we are shut down again. We are following all safety precautions and have had no exposures! Don’t shut down salons again, please!

(Lake Elmo, 2020-11-11)

#119

I agree!

(Inver Grove Heights, 2020-11-14)

#120

If it has been deemed safe (relatively) to fly and shop for food, etc., certainly these owners can follow CDC guidelines and keep their salons open.

(Minneapolis, 2020-11-16)

#122

I’m in a single studio at Sola Salons we are operating at 1:1 and have not had a single Covid case traced back to my studio. We are very strict with our safety protocols for disinfection and health for ourselves and our guests.

(Minneapolis, 2020-11-20)

#124

I am a salon owner/stylist who has taken all the necessary precautions and spent thousands of dollars in order to operate a safe, Covid free business. Myself, along with one other stylist working in 1000sq ft with one client a time. That is four bodies in 1000sq ft. There is no reason that we should have to close.
