It is unfair that after studying for 4 years as an LLB student, then you still have to spend more time and money just to practice, not everyone is privileged to have the money to cover all the costs.Nonkululeko Mabiya (Middelburg, 2026-03-16)

I am a final year law diploma student who wishes to study the LLB. I would be mire keen to practice the actual law if study demands weren’t so costly financially and through time. If i were to pursue my law career i’d need to resign from my current oermannet job(which took years to get and will leave me and ny kids stranded); attend law school(which i have to pay for out of pocket) and then write Bar exams which also have no guarantee of admission or not. In today’s economy and high youth and all-round unemployment rate; these seem like farfetched dreams. Passing such a rule as having law school inter-grated with the LLB program will lesson this stress and brighten many futuresKoko Ntsime (Pretoria, 2026-03-16)

As a final year law student, from a highly disadvantaged background this affects me a lot. Education is a right and South Africa has enforced this to right over the years with hopes that it would bridge s gap between the rich minority group and the poor. Paying for PVT means that LLB is limited to the rich moreover that my dreams are invalid because of my background...Lutho Tukwayo (Southernwood, East London, 2026-03-16)

I am signing this because I am a final-year student from a disadvantaged background and cannot afford the R22,000 fee. On top of this, I need to cover accommodation close to the Law School, as well as other essential expenses such as food and additional costs. I strongly support the proposal to include PVT as part of the LLB curriculum. Legal education should not only focus on theoretical knowledge but also equip students with practical skills and tools that prepare them for the realities of the legal profession. Integrating PVT into the LLB programme will help bridge the gap between theory and practice by enabling students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and professional competence. The inclusion of PVT will also enhance students’ ability to apply legal principles in real-world contexts, thereby strengthening their readiness for legal practice and improving the overall quality of future legal professionals. In an evolving legal environment, it is essential that law graduates possess both academic knowledge and practical capabilities. Making PVT part of the curriculum would therefore contribute significantly to producing well-rounded, competent, and socially responsible legal practitioners.
For these reasons, the incorporation of PVT into the LLB curriculum is a progressive and necessary step that will benefit students, legal institutions, and the broader justice system.

I'm a disadvantage student as well and without any financial backing it will be difficult to do pvt plus have to do articles if being lucky enough to find a law firm willing to accept me as a Candidate Attorney.Secondly if PVT is incorporated in the LLB there will be more prepared and equipped students entering the legal profession.

I am signing because I also advocate for PVT. Just like how medical schools do practicals and teachers do practical's in schools, I believe law students should be afforded that opportunity also and PVT should be compulsory, because many law students do not moot as it is 'optional' so many do not get insight of what it really is means to be a law student.Achumile Nomstahila (Port Shepstone, 2026-03-16)

Reality is that pvt is expensive. Paying close to 20k for a four month course is unreasonable.Even middle class people struggle to have to pay that much money and other financial stresses that come with it
