I am a law student and I come from a disadvantage family whereby my parents are trying so hard to make end meets to be able to help continue with my studies as nsfas has been giving me problems. So I see it not fair for us to pay our fees then later we also have to pay to do practicals.Pretty Simphiwe Mokgoatsane (Pretoria, 2026-03-14)

As a final year LLB student, I will be badly affected if I have to go through Vocational Training with that little amount. I'm from a rural area, which means I will have to move to bigger town or cities for employment opportunities. The cost of rental property combined with living expenses would make it impossible to finish the course on such a little income.Nozipho Nkabinde (Groblersdal, 2026-03-14)

PLT / Law school is expensive for graduatesNhlulo Lencon Manganyi (Limpopo, 2026-03-14)

The on coming students do not necessarily have to struggle. Even if the curriculum extends in the number of years. Encoporate teaching and practicals so they can venture and have a way to follow. Rather than struggles of getting articles.Or ask a certain number of articles for the student to get and Institution should assist I. Placements!!!
Encoporate teaching with practice of law in their higher learning

I am signing this petition because many LLB graduates, including myself, face financial challenges after completing our degree. Paying such a high amount for PVT/PLT delays or prevents many capable students from entering the legal profession. Practical training should form part of the LLB programme to make the profession more accessible.Palesa Kgoele (Tembisa, 2026-03-14)

I'm signing because I agree 100%with you. This petition is valid and necessary because graduates are suffering out there because of lack of funds and we end up saying a law career is costly, if you dont come from an advantageous family you in trouble, you might even end up depressed, because where will you get money to pay for law school and practical legal training? and also stress about data because now majority offer online classes. We beg the LPC and Law society of South Africa to consider the needs and struggles of students who cannot afford to pay their way through law school and practical legal training to please include the 6 months PVT course into LLB curriculum.

I'm signing this petition because I'm a recent UNISA graduate and currently struggling to secure articles of clerkship, minimum requirements are always PVT/PLT. I am amongst the non-affording graduates, I come from a humble background and these requirements disadvantages me because I can't afford to put myself through law school.Takalani Manenzhe (Vuwani, 2026-03-14)

I'm a law student who wish to stand in court and fight people's rights and be the voice of the voiceless. But there are challenges that I've realized that they might prohibit my dreams...
Right now,I'm just studying by God's grace, because I've realized that achieving LLB is quite expensive.
I can't pay minimum registration but I'm expected to raise R22000,how will I raise R22,000?it means my dreams will be stuck because of R22 000.
We are from different families and some of us are currently unemployed.
All we need is a chance to change our lives.
It means my dreams will be stuck

I’m adding my voice to demand that the Legal Practice Council, Law Society of South Africa, and LEAD rethink the structure of legal training. By integrating PVT into the LLB, they can remove unnecessary financial barriers, ensure equal access, and prepare graduates more effectively for practice. In short I’m signing because i believe legal education should empower, not exclude.

I'm a Second year LLB student who wants to be an advocate , all we learn is threory and there are no practicals . It is a great sorrow knowing that you only learn knowledge and principles but unable to apply due to lack of practice and practice costs , as many are unable to afford leading to unemployment . I believe change will provide theory and practice so that LLB graduates will have an advantage of employmentMbali Khanyile (Pretoria, 2026-03-14)

I am an LLB student who comes from a disadvantaged background. Funded by NSFAS through the course. I have no idea how to pay for the programme. In a country with such high unemployment it is irrational to ask that graduates pay such high amounts so that they can practice in their field of study but not ensure them jobs.Mandisinde Abraham (Bloemfontein, 2026-03-14)
