Petition to Prioritise the Urgent Upgrading Water Infrastructure in Lakefield, Ward 28

Pipe_Water4.jpg

The community of Lakefield, Ward 28, is plagued by crumbling water infrastructure and continuous burst pipes. Crumbling underground asbestos pipes have resulted in the seeping of sand which has contaminated drinking water and resulted in various pipes and meters being clogged, leaving residents without water for days on end. Despite numerous reports and the area being one of the highest-paying areas in the city, the water infrastructure in the community has never been upgraded and has instead been left to decay.

We, the residents of Ward 28, hereby petition the MMC for Water and Sanitation, to prioritise the urgent upgrading of the water infrastructure and the replacement of old asbestos pipes in the Lakefield area.
