PETITION OPPOSING ARROWHEAD AIRPARK IN CASS COUNTY MISSOURI

WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, HEREBY PETITION the County Commissioners of Cass County, Missouri as follows:

WE STATE AND BELIEVE:

Arrowhead Airpark, LLC filed applications with Cass County to build an airport and residential complex at E. 203rd St. and S. Prospect Ave. in South Belton Missouri.

The Arrowhead Airpark applications propose:

  • A 3,000-foot paved and lighted runway
  • 95 airplane hangars (52 with homes and 43 with apartments) on only 159 acres

This project would create urban-level density in a rural area which is not suited for such development.

Arrowhead's airport threatens the character, safety, and well-being of our community.

WE OPPOSE THIS PROJECT FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS:

Noise Pollution:

Low-flying aircraft taking off, landing and circling over our homes will severely disrupt the peace and quiet of our rural community.

Safety Hazards:

The proposed airport layout and operations violate FAA safety standards. As a private airport, Arrowhead would not be subject to any regulatory oversight, creating increased risks for both pilots and residents.

Pollution:

Small planes continue to use leaded fuel. Lead is toxic at any level, especially to children and vulnerable populations.

Property Value Decline:

Air traffic, persistent noise, and toxic emissions will likely reduce property values, deter future buyers, and potentially increase insurance rates.

This is not a small local airstrip. It is a sprawling, private complex of airplane hangars and residential units, closed to the public and intended only for private aircraft owners.
