PETITION BY BUSINESSES IN ALBERT ROAD, SALT RIVER RE: BICYCLE LAN

We, as businesses or business owners are feeling the financial strain and not entirely happy about the City of Cape Town’s “Plan” for the bicycle lanes, because we were not taken into consideration when this was discussed or approved. We are not against cyclist having their own lanes and we do care about their safety, but there was no “PLAN” in place for alternative parking space for our customers or suppliers. There is parking available on the one side of the road, but those are now being filled by either employees who work in the area or shop owners and their staff, and this leaves absolutely no room for customers to park their vehicles.   We would like the City of Cape Town to either remove these lanes, allocate specific grounds for people to park or allow the vehicles to park there at certain times during the day.
