Petition Against Tarriffs

Dear Residents

WE CANNOT AFFORD THESE TARIFFS. ITS KILLING US

As you may have heard the political parties in Ethekwini Municipality have passed exhorbitant tariff increases effective from 1 July 2021. This means that you will need to find an extra R400 or more every month to pay your Municipal bills.
ADeC is the only movement that has been actively fighting these increases. In fact we have a plan to reduce tariffs, including rates, by as much as 40%.
We object to these increases for the following reasons
1. The City has been mismanaging our funds.
2. We are paying for extremely high salaries of councillors who are missing in action when we need them.
3. We pay for hundreds of millions lost through corruption and state looting.
4. We do not get the service we pay for. No service delivery. Loadshedding and water cuts and potholes
5. We pay for illegal connections and water and electricity that's stolen every day.
6. Our bills are fake because the Citys billing system has collapsed.
7. The Covid pandemic has forced many to lose their jobs and poverty levels are going through the roof.
8. Our pensioners and grantees are hardest hit.

We cannot sit back and allow these political parties to make decisions on our behalf. They have proven time and time again that they are only there to fill their own pockets.

We need to act and act fast.

ADeC is engaged in city wide protests throughout the city. We have to unite and stand up against these injustices.
