Because I agree strongly with its sentiment. Actors/actresses are being exploited by being offered under NLW. It is illegal, to start with!

I'm fed up with the idea that NMW is seen as a fair deal. What about all the hours learning lines and all the study and research not to mention training. And the sheer fact we are self employed. There are equity rates for a reason. Use them!

The response from CCP to the request that jobs paid £55 per day be put on the Opportunities board was met with a blanket - and mindlessly repeated - response that it met the NMW. It doesn't when it's a 10 hour day and no overtime !

Employers who can only afford to pay NMW need to state £7.20 per hour, not £55 per day.

Professional performers deserve to be paid at the Equity minimum rates. However, Equity does almost nothing to publicise its rates, which allows sites like CCP to advertise work that is paid well below the industry standard and/or is illegal.

I agree. £100 for a full day is the least a 'paid' acting job should be, especially when you factor in the audition and time spent preparing, line learning, providing your own costume...

I signed because to describe work paying £55 per day as paying is absurd. My DIY builder gets £100 per day. The NMW was designed for unqualified, unskilled workers.
ie those people at the bottom of the working chain. It is not appropriate for actors.

I resent poor payment of professional actors. We are trained and should be paid more than minimum wage. Some of ccp jobs are for wealthy clients who are taking advantage of the glut of actors. I have not paid for ccp this year because too few of the jobs are worth while. I have applied for "opportunities" because they are generally genuine collaborations.

I am sick of the exploitation of actors. We are highly trained and sensitive professionals NOT doing something on the side.

I no longer subscribe to CCP precisely because of this issue, the jobs that are posted do not offer a living wage.

'Cherrypicked'? No idea what that's supposed to mean! If Equity advertised its rates then employers would know what professional actors are meant to be paid and sites like CCP would not get away with suggesting £55 per day or NMW.

As it is, many companies employing actors (and many actors) don't have a clue what the Equity rates are, and wrongly assume that NMW is reasonable because sites like CCP and Spotlight are telling them so.

Actors deserve more than minimum wage. An actors work begins the minute they receive the script... Analysis of script, character work and of course learning the lines, and that's all before any rehearsal... All this before the actual day of the shoot and still no payment up to this point. So if you spread the £55 per day fee across all that (which is only actually paid for shoot days) then you're probably lucky to actually walk away with £20 or so per day... But probably even less!
