As a father with a child who resides in Hunger Hill my heart gose out to the families recently afflicted by the A58 mainly known as Wigan Road.

I use this road every day to and from work. Yes its clearly sing posted and yes there is a pedestrian crossing but unfortunately lives are being lost due to the high speeds through Hunger Hill.

Hunger Hill is a community bursting with young lives full of live and is also home to our elderly.

A reduction in the speed limit is a start but tougher traffic enforcement is needed.
It is in our best interests to protect our children as they are our future and our elderly as they are our roots.

When we asked previously we were told there hadn't been 'enough' incidents to warrant a change. We believe enough is enough.

Because its dangerous and after, and incident that involves children I think this should be taken extremely serious, we need to look after the next generation not put their lives at risk

The 40mph speed limit is inappropriate for residential areas, such as Hunger Hill.

Because the speed limit does need reducing on that stretch of wigan road, from the roundabout to the shell garage, & speed cameras installing, because some people think that they are still on the motorway & don't reduce their speed, also they speed down the road to beat the traffic lights at the shell garage.

I signed this petition because I know the children that got run over, and also I believe that the speed limit is far too high on that road as there has been others been run over in the past as it is used by pedestrians all the time. It is frightening trying to cross the road.

To much traffic travelling at high speed on this stretch of road & unaware of pedestrians crossing, needs to slow traffic down to make them more aware, do not need any more fatalities!

I used to live at Hunger Hill and crossed that very spot every day to catch the bus to school. I've moved a couple of miles away now, but my own daughter was hit by a car only a few months ago. Fortunately the car that hit her was only doing 30MPH - had it been going at 40MPH, I dread to think...

Please, PLEASE make ALL residential areas 30MPH.

I live in Westhoughton and drive down this road frequently. I see people driving along there at crazy speeds all the time and is frightening.
