The specialised nature of OPSMC - focusing on sports related injuries and associated medical circumstance - has personally seen myself require infrequent MRI scans as requested by Dr. Paul Blackman, Sports Physician over the past 10+ years. I am having Shoulder Surgery in the coming months; an MRI was one diagnostic aspect that lead to this outcome. This, it could be said, is a real-time example whereby the license applied for herein is of direct benefit to the financial position and moreso, health of me as a patient. Thank you & regards,
James D.Student.

I think it is a worthy cause

Medicare covers most things why not this??

We have travelled from the country (3 hours) to Olympic park sports medicine centre and required MRI which has added to the already high costs of our visits. To have this technology provided under Medicare would greatly alleviate stress and financial burden.

This is a great idea as long as it won't effect waiting times as an athlete Olympic Park is great as you can usually get an MRI done within 48hours

An MRI investigative capacity will further enhance the diagnostic capabilities of this wonderful Health Provider.

Health cover

I pay a premium health cover, with gap payments and payments for vvital detechian equipment I ask myself "what am I paying for" I feel if you are paying top dollar for private health cover everything should be inclusive in the treatment .

This is a necessary step to make caring for your health available to ALL rather than what you can afford to spend on your health!

MRI-Petition

This should not even be via a petition, this should be standard as Australia is meant to be promoting health! So lets make sure all Australians have access to medical advances as important as this MRI. Nothing short of excellent service at Olympic park, I hope that get to help many many more people who need it in every respect.

MRI does not use ionizing radiation so I find it hard to believe Medicare does not allow a rebate on scans.
Guest#45 Jun 12, 2012, 12:23
Hope the government changes their mind.

Support for IOPS Medicare bulk billing

This is a fantastic opportunity to make the excellent service from IOPS more accessible for both sports people and other patients. This would be a great link with the sporting facilities nearby and the community centre that is under construction and is supported by the Victorian Government.

I think it's a good idea so it is affordable to workers to have operations and to return to work. This makes it possible to do so , otherwise it becomes unaffordable and something that can Waite.I do appreciate the cost of these machines and the need for revenue to insure we have them available for public access.
