Fair labour practice

• We as take a lot drivers(subcontractors) would like to receive a standard rate of R4.50 per kilometer as we travel out of mafikeng. As petrol rates are increasing. For food deliveries to be at R30p/d from Friday morning throughout the weekend. Parcels to be at R18 per parcel. Work schedule that allows for one day off in a week as per request and/or preference of subcontractors. We demand it so due to the fact that the working hours are strenuous physically and financially. Working at approximately an average of 14 hours a day making an average of R350 to R400 a day is not logical nor legal. Other branches of take a lot receive higher rates than we do for doing exactly the same work that we do and thus the demand. A fair allocation of amount of parcel deliveries and opportunities to work outside of Mafikeng to enable the growth and experience of all drivers as we have proven to be capable workers. For part-time workers to be assigned to food deliveries only as they have fulltime jobs and this being our fulltime job we must remain the preferred drivers for parcels. Insurance money taken out of our monthly salaries to be subjected to claim post work/closure as subcontractors. To receive copies of our contracts as well as pay slips weekly. Uniform deductions of 50% to be paid by the employer and the other 50% by the subcontractors. The drivers injured on duty should be compensated for. Workers must be able to choose own shift work. This comes down to the ability of us to do our work efficiently as we consider maintenance of our cars and insure that we are continuously up to standard the money earned currently is insufficient due to the low rates paid we are at a loss of money from our own pockets as we can surely say fuel money spent from our own pockets is not covered entirely by the company jobs we receive as a result on average an earning of R600 to R1000 a week for the majority. We also spend our own money for airtime and data, service the cars out of our own cars which results in us paying the company to do the job for them. We cannot continue to work under these conditions.
