CANCELLATION OF CISCE SEMESTER 1 EXAMINATION

10th graders who are in a state of confusion, stress, etc. The recent announcement of the postponing of the CISCE SEM 1 has caused great chaos amongst the parents and children of ICSE and ISC. We are in a state of dilemma. I humbly request the CISCE BOARD to consider the cancellation of the Semester -1 examination with respect to the following:

Situation 1.) If semester 1 is held in december(offline mode) it will take at least 20 days to complete it, later we will have our christmas vacation which leaves us with January to start preparing for semester 2. We will be having prelims in february and boards in march. This results in insufficient period of time for the preparation for semester 2.

Situation 2.) As all are aware, the COVID situation in the country is still not favourable enough for offline conduction of exams. It's inevitable that many will contract the covid virus during offline exams as none of us are vaccinated at this stage, who will be responsible for that.

3.) Looking from the point of view of the ISC students, offline exams in December would not be possible for them as the JEE Main 2022 will be conducted in the month of February 2022 and many more entrances so when will they get the time to revise for it while simultaneously studying for semester 2.

4.) We cannot directly have offline exams after 2 years of online education, we have to get familiar with the atmosphere of offline school before writing boards so at least 2 months of offline school should happen before. All of us were practicing online mcqs and a sudden shift to omr sheets would put us in a state of difficulty.

BENEFITS OF CANCELLING ICSE/ISC SEMESTER 1:

If the cancellation of semester 1 is informed now then the students will have more time to start the preparation for semester 2. We would be truly grateful for that.

As an alternative to the online semester 1 exams, I suggest that the school prelim marks be considered instead of the board marks.

I sincerely hope you have gone through the aforementioned reasons and believe you are convinced of the need to immediately cancel this examination
