The Ethnic Tensions between the Sinhalese and Tamils paved the way for Extremist and opportunistic Muslims to exploit the situation to the maximum. Whilst the Tamil Terrorist were terrorizing the country and the Government and its military forces were busy in curbing the Tamil Terrorism the Muslims who came from nowhere to our county wrest the initiative and the opportunity to expand their dominance over political and economical environment. This became easy for the Muslims since the Majority Sinhalese were divided to many fronts allowing the Sinhalese race to be vulnerable and week mainly politically and economically. In the mean time the Muslim extremist were busy in the East (especially) under the leadership of late SLMC leader Ashroff who adopted the strategy to systematically chase away the Sinhalese and Tamils in the Eastern Province. They took the advantage of LTTE terrorist activities to terrorize the population. It was a game of high level conspiracy to eliminate the Sinhala and Tamil identity from the Eastern Province. It also include encouraging the Muslims to increasing the population growth rate which is in an unprecedented level, encroaching government lands by force, buying at will or by force lands and property belonging to Sinhalese and Tamils and intimidating those Sinhalese and Tamils who refused to sell their lands and property to Muslims( which is still happening). The encroachment is systematical in the East and it is followed by firstly constructing small Mosques in government lands over night then occupying adjacent lands. There are many illegal Muslims settlers in the East who came from other parts of the country. The Ampara Towns and the government institutions which was once predominantly ran by Sinhalese is today governed by Muslims be it Banks, Hospital, Water Supply Board, Electricity Board etc. The land office in the District Secretariat of Ampara is today held by a Muslim which is essential for the Muslims to illegally transfer government lands. There are many Muslim Divisional Secretary’s in the Ampara District who used to issue illegal land permits even across their boundaries in to predominantly Sinhala and Tamil Areas. Most surprisingly and alarmingly the Kalmunei DS division is today divided in to two separate DS Divisions by the local government authorities declaring Kalmunei Tamil DS divisions and Kalmunei Muslim DS division and the system is functioning too. The continues domination over Ports authority for many years by Muslim Politicians facilitated the Muslims to grew economically strong and may be due to the opportunity avail for them to engage in illegal import/export of commercial goods and items. If not how did the Muslims grew so strong in economic fronts over the last few decades?
