Though we understand the good intentions behind the proposed Courtyard Dining Room portion of the master plan project, we have found it to be inconsistent with the character of the club and the best use of our resources.The Courtyard Dining Room is a well-used space for dining and meetings throughout the day and in the evenings. We question the repurposing of the Courtyard Dining Room to make a fourth bar location at the cost of complicated changes to the existing roof structure. This would be the first significant alteration to the exterior of Ossipoff’s main clubhouse since it opened in 1960, compromising its classic and historically significant design.The number one response of members (77% of respondents) to the McMahon Group survey was “maintaining and enhancing the Ossipoff architectural character” of the Pacific Club. An interest in expanded amenities does not establish support for replacing the Courtyard Dining Room or installing a bar in the courtyard garden.We, the undersigned members of the Pacific Club, ask the Board of Governors to remove this conversion from the plans, retain the Ossipoff-designed Courtyard Dining Room for dining and meetings, and preserve the architectural character of the clubhouse and courtyard.
