STOP PAID PARKING at Wyong Hospital
- We are asking for the Communities support on STOPPING the process of rolling out Paid Parking @ Wyong Hospital.
- The Labor Government commenced an initiative for Regional / Rural hospitals to have FREE parking from 1st August 2023. Wyong Hospital was excluded as the carpark falls under the Metropolitan fee paying carpark. However the hospital remains Regional resourced / staffed & funded.
- We fought against paid parking back in 2019 & won - its ridiculous we have to continually fight a battle when the circumstances have not changed.
- We are an isolated hospital with limited public transport - insufficient buses that stop for staff with rotating rosters & train stations not within walking distance with hourly trains (8km Wyong & 5km Warnervale)
- High density housing estates with no street parking available. Locals have already complained about staff parking in streets.
- A private hospital & public primary school across the road limiting off site parking, surrounded by the Pacific highway which is unsafe to park on.
- We live in a low socio-economic region where the cost of living & inflation has impacted locals & their families greatly. Our stats for Wyong fall well below the average when looking at incomes & education & above average with disability. This decision will negatively impact our community in many ways - increased ambulance call outs as unable to pay for parking, reduced family visits for those in hospital, declined referrals for clinics as unable to afford exorbitant parking fees.
