Petition to the Government of the State of Israel
Petition for the Formal Recognition of Boy George for His Public Support of the Jewish People and the State of Israel
Following the release of the song "We shall dance again", we, the undersigned, respectfully call upon the Government of the State of Israel to formally recognize and honor Boy George for his principled and public support of the Jewish people and the State of Israel during a period marked by increasing hostility, antisemitism, and attempts to silence voices expressing solidarity with Israel.
At a time when many public figures have remained silent out of fear of controversy, while others have openly embraced anti-Israel activism or promoted narratives that many view as one-sided and hostile toward Israel, Boy George has chosen a different path. He has spoken according to his convictions, defended his support for the Jewish people and the State of Israel, and refused to retreat in the face of intense public criticism.
By promoting We Will Dance Again and standing firmly behind its message, Boy George has demonstrated moral courage and integrity. Through his actions, he has commemorated the victims of the October 7 terrorist attacks, affirmed the resilience of those who believe in life, freedom, and peace, and encouraged others to reject antisemitism, oppose hatred in all its forms, and stand with those who are targeted simply because they are Jewish or because they support Israel.
Rather than yielding to public pressure, Boy George has consistently defended his position and refused to abandon his support for the Jewish people and the State of Israel. In doing so, he has demonstrated that standing against antisemitism and supporting Israel should never be grounds for intimidation, public shaming, or professional retaliation.
Such recognition would not only honor Boy George’s personal courage but would also send a clear message that those who stand against antisemitism and support the Jewish people’s right to live in peace, security, and dignity are valued and appreciated.
We invite individuals, organizations, artists, educators, community leaders, and all people of goodwill to join this petition and support this call for recognition.
