SAY NO TO BAIL FOR- THEO GORA.
TO DENY BAIL FOR MR. THEO GORA
We, the undersigned, call on the South African justice system to deny bail to Gqeberha businessman Mr. Theo Gora, who was arrested on charges of attempted murder and kidnapping following the brutal attack on 18-year-old Misomihle Nkwalase in Veeplaas.
We, the people of Gqeberha and surrounding communities, stand united in pain, outrage, and determination as we appeal to the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court to refuse bail for the accused.
This case is not just a legal matter; it is a fight for justice, safety, and accountability in our community.
We cannot stand by while those accused of such violent crimes are allowed to walk freely among the people they have harmed.
On Monday, 20 October 2025, our collective voice must resonate in the courtroom, sending a clear message that attempted murder and kidnapping are grave crimes that threaten the very fabric of our society.
We oppose bail for Mr. Gora for the following reasons:
1. Public Safety
The severity of the charges, involving violence and an attempt to take a life, poses a clear danger to the community. Granting bail would undermine the justice system’s duty to protect citizens.
2. Risk of Intimidation
As a well-connected businessman, Mr. Gora has the means to influence, intimidate, or interfere with witnesses and evidence. This poses a serious threat to a fair and transparent investigation.
3. Disregard for Human Life
The alleged actions demonstrate a blatant disregard for human life and the values of justice and accountability. Allowing bail would send a dangerous message that such acts carry no real consequence.
Our communities are built on the spirit of ubuntu — the belief that “I am because we are.”
When one of us is harmed, we are all affected. Justice for Misomihle is justice for every child, parent, and citizen who believes in compassion, humanity, and mutual respect.
To uphold the values of ubuntu, we must protect one another and ensure that those accused of such violence are held accountable.
We call upon the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court to act in the interest of justice and community safety by denying bail to Mr. Theo Gora.
Our unity reflects our strength, our shared humanity, and our unwavering commitment to a safer, just society.
Stand with us.
Let your voice be heard. Sign this petition to protect our community, uphold ubuntu, and seek justice for Misomihle Nkwalase.
