PUBLIC PETITION: DEMAND FOR ACCOUNTABILITY OVER BILLING CHAOS IN MATLOSANA*
We, the undersigned residents of Matlosana hereby express our deep concern and outrage over the ongoing chaos with municipal accounts, which has continued for more than a year with no resolution in sight.
Residents are being issued with:
-incorrect and inconsistent bills
-shockingly inflated charges
-missing or duplicated accounts
- no credible explanations or corrections.
This failure has destroyed trust, caused financial distress to households, and has severely undermined the municipality's ability to collect revenue. Without accurate and credible billing no municipality can survive.
Despite repeated complaints and public outrage, no meaningful corrective action has been taken. This is clear evidence of gross incompetence and failure of leadership at the highest administrative level.
We therefore demand the following;
1. Immediate removal of the Municipal Manager and Chief Financial Officer for their failure to resolve the billing crisis and restore financial stability.
2. A full independent forensic investigation into the billing system and revenue management.
3. Written timelines for when billing will be fully corrected and normalized.
4. Public accountability to residents through open reporting.
Political accountability
If these demands are ignored, we further demand that the Executive Mayor vacate office, as the political head of the Municipality who has been fully aware of this billing collapse for over a year and failed to act decisively.
This crisis is not a technical issue anymore - it is a leadership failure. We refuse to be billed incorrectly, bullied into paying inaccurate accounts, and ignored when raising legitimate concerns.
