Let us not relive the 1930s with its rampant fascists - this disease is now capturing Europe again. Let us stand up against this murky tide of rightwing nationalism.

UKIP, as a political party, is setting a new, even lower, standard in divisiveness than the established parties. It's way beyond time that they are exposed as the racist opportunists that they are.

When UKIP say they are an alternative to the 'Political Class' and unafraid of challenging 'political correctness', this simply means they want to roll back the gains of the anti-racist movement in the past and make racism respectable. I never want to see a return to the racism of the 1950s let alone the 1930s!

UKIP will never win a general election, because their Thatcherite policies alienate too many. But as long as they enjoy limited success they will pull other parties towards racism. This includes Labour who are too cowardly to confront racism and scapegoating. It is important that the left stand shoulder to shoulder with immigrants and minorities.

Thank god someone is making a stand against the BBC's favourite racists.

As Labour PPC for SW Norfolk I oppose everything UKIP stands for. Appeasing right wing groups and parties led to the nightmare of Nazi Europe. Millions died to end that nightmare. Never again.

Its time to make positive points about Europe and not isolate our countryt.
