Save Heckmondwike Library

Kirklees Labour Cabinet repeatedly tell us they are looking at ways to balance the books. The only thing I've seen so far are cuts to services. Where are the innovative ideas? Where are the new income streams ? Where is the forward thinking that saves services instead of simply making cuts and trying to justify themselves by blaming others. Anyone can sanction cuts. What we really need is a plan. Once services such as libraries have gone they have gone forever. It's time for the cabinet to start doing what they are being paid for. They need to lead and stop taking the easy way out of a difficult situation. They knew the cuts were coming. They are failing the public who trusted them to protect services in Kirklees. If they aren't up to the challenge it's time to step aside.
