Only 5 % of the world population are over 6ft.

Light weight increases the pool of athletes available to row, this can only be a good thing.

Due to physical equality, lightweight rowing events are the most competitive and exciting events to watch !!

we are talking about tecknic in roing not mussels only. There are allof dhe same weight, and therfor MUST the teknic bee perfekt.
Also to look at

We need more rowing events, not less. Women's light weight categories should be added to equal mens, not discontinuing the mens. That isn't fair to anyone.

Because certain body types shouldn't be excluded from doing sports

Boxing has 18 divisions, Rowing only has two!
If you ask me rowing needs a third Mid weight division to cater for the average person

One of the reasons to preserve lightweight rowing is the general wish of The IOC that ALL countries can compete in every sport. So if light weight rowing disappears for instance the Asian countries (for instance China) will have difficulties bringing teams to the Olympics. In my opinion that means the beginning of the end of rowing at the Olympics.

I believe that it is imperative that FISA either increase or maintain their lightweight rowing quota as it is vital that people of all sizes are encouraged to do the sport and that in a broader perspective, more people are encouraged to take up sport and participation is widened.

I am a lightweight rower.

My daughter is a lightweight rower. She won the jr lw women's national race last year. Most often she races with the open weights, however, at 5' 5", her career will end if the lightweight program is eliminated.

I am very proud of "my"rower, also one of my very favorite people, and want him to have at least a chance of qualifying for the Olympic LW team of his University.

In order to keep the interest for the world rowing for all male rowers, we have to support the possibilities for light weight rowers being able to participate the Olympic Games rowing, especially in the coxless four which is an important main boat type.
