The so-called "reasoning" of the borough that it will help commerce is a farce. In fact, commerce is thriving on Parc ave in the area surrounding the new synagogues. That area on Parc was plagued with drug trafficking, now new storefronts are constantly opening up.

We would like to get an honest & sincere answer to why the Outremont council is targeting places of worship. Have there been any specific complaints-if yes can it be made public. Otherwise, it would be nice for the council to get to the more important issues - namely potholes, street lights not being changed etc.etc.

I'm against segregation in principle. In a multicultural society, there is no excuse to segregate places of worship from the rest of society.

Because I strongly believe that everyone has a right to have a place of worship in a convenient location, and I know that the synagogues established and used by the Orthodox Jewish community do not have a negative impact on the neighborhood. On the contrary, the pedestrian traffic generated by the synagogues is a boost to out city's economy.

This proposed by-law change defies the values that comprise Quebec and Canadian society. Segregating public spaces of worship demeans citizens' right to worship . Places of worship, in and of themselves, only benefit society as they strengthen the family unit and help create strong communities. The mayor and her cohorts at City Hall should start recognizing the inherent prejudices that lie at the core of this by-law proposal that, if passed, will fracture the sense of inclusiveness that City Hall should be attempting to promote.

it is outright racial discrimination. There are many stores which are empty in the Outremont area -Bernard, Laurier, Van Horne etc. so there is no reason not to allow synagogues to exist in these streets. it will in no way effect the economy. The city of Outremont is afraid to come out and be honest and give rights to minorities!

The banning is being done without prior studies or any proof whatsoever that this will help their cause. 

Also, everyone should have a place of worship nearby, no matter what religion or afilliation
