Mr Wilkinson is a lovely well spoken man, who has been constantly harrassed by local children. Who think its fun to smash his windows, and generally torment him. Yet he feeds pidgeons and gets put in jail, I am sure there are other low life scum bags that should be in jai. Yet they are walking the streets, while an old mans in jail. That's not justice, the aw is an ass. I lived in morecambe from 1997 to 2008.

It's amazing all the trouble and harrassment I endured in heysham from the local scum and the police were pathetic. Ended up moving and having to practically give my house away but they can put a harmless guy away for being kind to birds. Well done justice system, well done

he was given every opportunity to comply with the ASBO - not feeding birds after 5pm or within 100 metres of his home. Take a walk down Cavendish Road and talk to his neighbours, if you're not local have a look on Google maps

I feel this is a ridiculous waste of time and money, and for a man of Johns age and medical wellbeing to be imprisoned is ludicrous, surely there are a lot more crimes that go unpunished. The law enforcement and judicial system should hang their heads, shame on them.

There are a least two other people who feed the birds on the prom and they are never bothered by the police, so many terrible crimes going on in Morecambe and this poor man stuck in prison...shame on our justice system

I think this is totally wrong this man is doing no harm to anyone I know what he was doing was causing a health risk but surely a prison sentence is extreme and should not have been an option he needs some type of rehabilitation or community work.

Don't think its fair he is in jail, i have lived in Morecambe for 9 year and can remember him feeding them, i think he doesn't mean to cause any trouble by doing this, its something he likes to do, he just needs some help :) but he isn't a criminal and him.being locked up for feeding birds is a joke!!!!

Well I just hope that the scum bag of a magistrate who sent the poor old man to prison for six weeks is really really proud of them selves because the few birds that he was feeding was probably the only thing that was keeping his sanity going so if and when he comes out if prison doesn't kill him first i hope that he carries on feeding his feathered friends.

I don't see the point in this petition. He has been rightly jailed for breaching his ASBO. End of story, age or any other matter do not come into it. I'm pretty sure all the people signing this petition will not live near him and realise the hastle he is causing his neighbours. Let's hope he comes out of jail with a more considerate attitude towards his neighbours.
