My biggest concern is that the government is doing nothing about the situation. In the mean time Rustenburgs economy is dieing and no taxes are generated.So who is suffering? the whole of SA.All the politicians are to scared to say something because they might loose votes.

It is absolutely a disgrace, to say the least, that children and the community at large, now has to suffer because of a dubious labour movement.It is also a disgrace that the government is unwilling to intervene, but then again, with the unions in effect running the country, and the government protecting its powerbase and constituency, I never expected more from them.The question I ask myself is what is this union going to do when Rustenburg's economy finally collapses?

For what it is worth….
In a recent publication by Anglo American the CEO of Anglo American, Mark Cutifani, an Australian National [a guy who is getting paid £1,200,000 per annum] recons it is time to sell the Rustenburg Operations…. because AMCU has put their foot down and said "enough is enough"

For many years the large Mining Companies has been making billions and have been paying their employees just enough to survive
Sorry Mr. Cutifani, you need to reconsider the Unions demand otherwise Rustenburg will again become the ghost-town of the 1970's
A intro wage of R12500 might sound like a huge amount, but it is in actual fact not, if you take into consideration the cost of living, but I suppose if you earn a salary of £1,200,000 per annum the cost of living doesn’t worry you at all

Mense teken a.s.b. almal hierdie petisie sodat ons mans weer terug werk toe kan gaan en om te keer dar daar nog meer besighede sluit. Ek is self die eienaar van 'n klein besigheid maar dinge raak elke dag al moeiliker om te oorleef, so hoe gouer ons manne en al die werkers teruggaan werk toe gaan ons keer dat nog meer mense hulle werk verloor. A.s.b. almal teken hierdie petisie.

Ridiculous that a Union can bring an entire organisation to its knees. Those who do not want to work for less than R12 500 per month can go find work somewhere else, there are many people out there who would be very happy to work for less, and do a much better job than they do.

Anyone that passes through these mining areas can testify to the devastating effects the strike have on people. While I understand the issues at hand, it can surely not be to anyone's benefit to let children go hungry and destroy a whole region's economy and creating more poverty?
