Both of these places make the trip down to Whitstable extra attractive. Enterprises like these need to be encouraged, they contribute to the choice and therefore the economy. Whitstable needs the choice otherwise it becomes overwhelmingly busy and people start to go elsewhere.

I live in Tankerton. Currently I am on crutches but make a daily hop down to the forge. I wish idiots like David Lane at Canterbury City Council would understand the value to the community of individual high quality places such as this. The young people running the place are quiet, polite and serve you fast. Given the stresses of life I haven't found a place where I feel more relaxed. I can't believe anyone would deny them normal opening hours.

My husband and I love the Forge and always enjoy the good food, perfect sunsets, friendly staff and an relaxed atmosphere. Add in that you can go visit any time time of the year, it's a wonderful, unique establishment that one of Whitstable's great assets!

Great place! Brings something different!
