Energy Cable theft Petition

Residents accross Germiston from Wards 92, 36, 42, 93, 39, 21 and surroundings with to petition the MMC of Energy and the relevant department.  On 26 March 2026 an Eskom cable got stolen and multiple residents are waiting for power to be restored.  Unfortunatedly, due to this outage, multiple roads have experienced additional cable theft and over 6 CoE subs have been vandalized and further theft experienced.  This happens accross Germiston with area outages which are excessivley frequent.  We request the following emergency help on Germiston power supply infrastructure:

- Lock and weld all subs in Germiston and surrounding wards;

- Early warning detection systems that actually work on all key cables;

- Replacement of all copper cables to aluminium cables throughout Germiston;

- Ensuring daily monitoringh by security of all Germiston power subs and cables;

- Providing regular updates and maintenance of infrastructure;

- Handling of all outages with urgency and priority and ensuring a 48-hour turnaround;

- Ensuring effective communication during outages.
