Every school should have a band program or some way to express yourself. Without band in my life I probably would have gone down a completely different path, and would not have the friends I have now.(Hoschton, 2020-05-19)

Im signing because I would like for this university to keep their music program. Music is very important to people’s lives and is something that takes passion and ambition. Maybe the music program is struggling at this school, but that should not be a reason to give up on the program, if not, to try and get it to be stronger! Thank you.(Colton, 2020-05-19)

Music is incredibly important in education systems. Not only does it improve brain function and cognition, increase teamwork skills, critical thinking, observation, etc., but it also provides a place for music students to feel safe.(Auburn, AL, 2020-05-20)

I am a firm believer in the arts and I myself am a musician. The arts are almost never taken seriously by most authority figures in education, so they are always up on the chopping block, but they are just as valuable as sports are as they give any type of person who wants to try them out a chance to be creative and open and truly express themselves in ways they otherwise would not have been able to.(Cumberland, RI, 2020-05-24)

I am a music major and member of the Kutztown University Marching Unit, and I truly believe that all forms of creation of music is essential in academic settings. It is such a big part in building family and community between students and their peers and faculty. Music is such an outlet for so many students, and I know many would be entirely lost without the program.(cochranville, 2020-05-26)

Marching band was one of the greatest experiences I had in school.Anyone losing that opportunity would be suffering an immense disservice at the hands of their institution.

I’m in my schools band myself and I have to say that band is unbelievably important in ways other than music. It teaches you responsibility, teamwork, perseverance and commitment. I’ve found relationships that have made me into a better person than who I was before this season. I’m not sure what I would do without band and I know these kids need it as much, if not more, than me.(Fayetteville, 2020-05-26)

The arts are more important now than EVER after a time of trauma for kids taken out of school and their lives flipped over, and the brokenness of our world right now there is so much healing creativity and expression through art needed.(Amston, 2020-05-27)

Music is not expendable. Music is so, so, so big in my life, and the people I've met along the way are a family I could never let go of. Music is enriching, empowering, and an essential part of life. Don't take away their opportunity.(Lititz, 2020-05-27)

I am signing because music programs of any kind should not be placed on a lower rung than other academic programs, whether due to lack of funding or participation. Music programs provide opportunities for members of the community to come together and participate in a shared love of the arts in a way that can be expressed to the entire community.(Toronto, 2020-05-27)

The arts have been cut for ages. It's time to stop cutting the most influential programs.(Avoca, 2020-06-10)

I came all the way from Louisiana to experience a new way of living. One thing I required is to be apart of the band at whatever school I attend. From Jackson State University to Grambling University, I grew up with music and soul running in my veins. The south is so soulful. I will have to transfer next year if they drop this program.(Wilkes-barre.....smh, 2020-07-04)

I feel the band is a huge asset to any Wilkes sporting event they perform at and the music certainly adds school spirit for players and fans!Andrea Chuba Kealey, Class of 1978

I am a Wilkes alumni and while I did not attend the Wilkes sporting events that the band was present at, I was in the marching band in high school. By cutting the band, not only will the sporting events lose the energy they get from the band being there, but the band members would lose the bond that they have, which is like no other. Band is the creative outlet that some students need to enable them be successful, not only in their music classes, but in other areas as well. Band members also become like a family and are a great source of support and encouragement for each other. Many of my best friends, even after more than 20 years, were in my high school band with me! Please reconsider cutting the band program!(Hudson, 2020-07-06)

The Marching Band is a HUGE asset! As a former Majorette I can totally appreciate them and the program!(Lake Winola, 2020-07-06)

I was a former Music Ed. Major (with emphasis in Flute Performance), graduating in 1977. The downward track and final elimination of the Music program at Wilkes Is extremely distressing to me. Seems this is the last straw. Does the administration not care about proliferating the Arts in the Wyoming Valley??!!!(Morris Plains, Nj, 2020-07-06)

Wilkes graduate Class of 75I believe that the marching band adds to the spirit of the college experience.

As an alum of Wilkes , please know that the arts complete a full education, including marching band! It’s something that may save a life at this point in our world. I’m shocked that deleting this program is even a thought .(Midlothian, 2020-07-08)
