Protect Our Children from Diesel Exhaust at School Dismissal

We, the undersigned parents and guardians, are deeply concerned about vendor trucks idling in front of our school during dismissal.

These vehicles emit diesel exhaust directly into areas where children gather, exposing them to harmful air pollutants. This is particularly dangerous for children with asthma and other respiratory conditions.

We call on school leadership, city agencies, and local elected officials to:

1. Enforce existing anti-idling laws near the school
2. Prohibit vending and standing by ice cream trucks directly in front of the school during dismissal hours
3. Increase enforcement presence during dismissal times
4. Take immediate action to protect children’s health and safety

Children should not have to breathe diesel fumes while leaving school!
