Opposition to proposed Woodlands Primary School 2025 class list

We, the undersigned parents and guardians, strongly oppose the decision to implement a split Year 5 and Year 6 class for the upcoming academic year. This arrangement jeopardizes the educational needs of our children, particularly Year 6 students who require focused preparation for the critical transition to high school. Combining these distinct year groups risks compromising their academic progress and developmental readiness.

A mixed-year class creates substantial challenges for teachers, diminishing their ability to address the specific needs of each group effectively. We are deeply concerned this will result in inadequate preparation for high school and hinder students' learning outcomes.

We are also dismayed by the lack of transparency and parental consultation in this decision-making process. Parents were neither adequately informed nor given an opportunity to voice concerns about this change, which directly impacts our children’s education. This failure in communication undermines trust and collaboration between the school and its community.

Given the timing of the school’s announcement, we are compelled to act with urgency. We respectfully request a formal response to our concerns within three (3) days from the date of this letter. Should we not receive an adequate resolution within this timeframe, we will escalate the matter to higher authorities, as we are committed to ensuring the best educational outcomes for our children.

We urge the school to reconsider and reinstate separate Year 5 and Year 6 classes. This step is essential to provide students with the appropriate support and preparation they need for their academic success.
