Make it better- Voice of the Students: Uphold Prof. Jerry Kolo's Legacy at AUS

This petition opposes the retirement of Professor Jerry Kolo due to the irreplaceable role he plays in our academic community. Prof. Kolo has dedicated many years to the American University of Sharjah, and his departure would represent a significant loss for the institution. The Master of Urban Planning (MUP) program, in particular, has greatly benefited from his depth of knowledge, extensive experience, and unwavering commitment to student success.

Prof. Kolo’s dynamic teaching style, ability to communicate complex concepts effectively, and dedication to mentorship have made him a cornerstone of the MUP program and a respected figure beyond it. His supportive approach to learning fosters an enriching academic environment that is not easily replicated.

We are deeply grateful for his years of service and the profound impact he has had on his students. Therefore, we urge the administration of the American University of Sharjah to reconsider the decision to retire him and take action to retain him within the department. His continued presence is essential to the vitality of the MUP program and the academic community as a whole.
