We, the undersigned, call on the South African Police Service, the National Prosecuting Authority, and all relevant authorities to conduct a full, urgent, and transparent investigation into the murder of Anda Mlondleni, who was tragically shot three times in Berea, East London, on 13 July 2026.
We, the undersigned, call on the South African Police Service, the National Prosecuting Authority, and all relevant authorities to conduct a full, urgent, and transparent investigation into the murder of Anda "Peach" Mlondleni, who was brutally gunned down outside her workplace, Mrhawu Holdings, in Berea, East London, on 13 July 2026.
Anda joined Mrhawu Holdings in June 2024. On 1 July 2026, she was suspended pending a disciplinary hearing. The hearing took place on 2 July 2026 before an external chairperson, and no outcome had been communicated to her. During the hearing, Anda requested that the proceedings be recorded.
On the morning of 13 July 2026, at around 9:00 a.m., Anda received a call from her employer asking her to come to the office so they could talk. She arrived at approximately 11:00 a.m. At 11:20 a.m., she called her sister to say she was finished and should be picked up. Shortly after leaving the premises, Anda was shot three times, including a fatal shot to the head. Witnesses reported hearing her cry out after the first shot. Others in the area reported seeing a man with his face covered and what appeared to be a firearm shortly before the shooting.
We are not making accusations or asking anyone to draw conclusions before the investigation is complete. We are asking for a transparent, impartial investigation that uncovers the truth and ensures that every person responsible, if any, is brought to justice.
Anda's family, friends, and community deserve answers. We ask that no effort be spared in identifying, arresting, and prosecuting everyone responsible for this horrific crime.
We respectfully call on the authorities to:
Prioritize the investigation into Anda Mlondleni's murder.
Ensure all available evidence is thoroughly examined.
Bring every person involved to justice as quickly as possible.
Keep the family informed of the progress of the investigation.
Provide the family with the support and dignity they deserve throughout the legal process.
Gun violence continues to devastate families and communities. We cannot allow those responsible to escape accountability. We stand together in demanding justice for Anda Mlondleni and in calling for safer communities for everyone.
