Petition for Reconsideration of Hazrul's Removal from the National Powerlifting Team
We are calling on the federation to reconsider the decision to remove Hazrul from the national powerlifting team.
The incident that led to this decision stemmed from a short video recorded at the gym. In the background of the video, Hazrul could be seen fooling around with friends during a casual moment outside of training. The clip was later circulated and brought to the attention of the coaching staff, ultimately resulting in his removal from the national team.
We fully understand that national athletes are expected to uphold high standards of professionalism and conduct. However, we believe that decisions of this magnitude should consider the full context of an incident rather than a brief moment captured on video.
Those who know Hazrul recognize his dedication, discipline, and commitment to the sport. His training, work ethic, and willingness to represent the country have consistently reflected the values expected of a national athlete. We believe one isolated incident, particularly one that occurred during a light-hearted interaction with friends, should not define an athlete's entire character or years of hard work.
This petition is not intended to undermine the federation's authority or excuse inappropriate behaviour. Instead, it is a respectful request for fairness, proportionality, and a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding the decision.
Athletes, like everyone else, can make mistakes or be misunderstood. What matters is whether the response is fair, takes context into account, and allows room for learning and growth.
If you believe that every athlete deserves to be assessed fairly and judged on their overall character and contributions—not solely on a single moment taken out of context—we ask for your support.
Please sign this petition to respectfully request that the federation review its decision and give Hazrul the opportunity to continue representing our country.
