Gumtree sale of pet animals

Gumtree is an internet advertising website that does not charge advertisers.

Virtually anything can be advertised on Gumtree, even all sorts of animals, not least pets, such as cats and kittens and dogs and puppies. Many non-registered breeders, such as ordinary members of the public, deliberately breed kittens/puppies from their cats/dogs, the kittens and puppies then advertised for sale on Gumtree and/or other internet advertising websites. Such breeding has now had a disastrous outcome for many surplus unwanted kittens and puppies, the supply massively outdoing the demand. Virtually every animal rescue in UK is bursting at the seams, full of cats/kittens, dogs and puppies and rabbits, these three species being the most commonest pets. The petitioners hereby beg Gumtree to stop advertising Britain's commonest pet companion animals.
