The Mangawhai Volunteer Fire Service is in a serious mess because of a bully. We need to remove him from the brigade and bring back our frie fighters.

As previous property owners in Mangawhai we have supported the NZFS over the years and admire the wonderful work they have done for the community. So sad to see the amount of truly good men and woman who are no longer there because of the current leadership. We have been holidaying in Mangawhai for over 40 years and find this very disheartening!

I signed this petition, because I am outraged at the level of abuse our volunteers have suffered. This is not a great way to treat anyone let alone volunteers, who work for the good of the community. Also, we inform children bullying is not okay, the grownups need to set an example here.

Control needs to be bought back to strong, honest and transparent leadership. If the person who is causing this chaos has any concern for the Brigade and the community it serves he should have the decency to stand down.

This community deserves a functioning brigade with a person at the helm who is a decent leader, an encourager not a demoraliser. The current problem person has been responsible for the departure of between 7-14 experienced firefighters - they will return when he leaves our volunteer brigade.

As a neighbour in Kaiwaka I find it appalling that our volunteers are having to cover for our much bigger neighbouring community because this bullying has been allowed to continue.

My dad helped start the Mangawhai fire service so I am not going to stand by and watch Mangawhai have no service when so many people have worked so hard over the last 50 or more years to keep it going.

I signed because I am appalled at the amount of bullying that is and has gone on in the MVFS and shocked that the NZFS has not stood down the person concerned. I am grateful the MVFS exists, however the state it is in at the moment puts extra expectations on those who are left and those in neighbouring VFS Brigades.

I am shocked and disgusted at the amount of bullying and dirty tactics that these volunteers have been exposed to. This man's history in the Brigade has seen over 12 volunteers resign. Because this man is high profiled and intertwined with unions the NZFS is scared of him and won't touch him, hence why they protect him.

As a transferred member from this Brigade I know how good this Brigade was before this brigade became' dysfunctional under the current leadership'. I personally know the good people who have left the Brigade and want to bring it back to what it was. Do the right thing by your local volunteers New Zealand Fire Service management!

Don't know the details of this issue, and as such don't have enough information to pick sides - but dysfunction that splits a community and puts residents at risk must be confronted and dealt with.

We need a brigade in our area and It is crazy that one man can cause so much unrest. If it was just 1-2 personal moving on I would wonder where the fault lies but so many going says so much.

Mangawhai has to have fire station and the national body of fire fighters needs to better understand the volunteers that work at these country stations and the special effort they willingly put into saving lives and property.
