Fix the phone and data network issues in Oran Park and surrounding suburbs, NSW 2570

We, the undersigned residents, workers, business owners and other people of Oran Park, NSW 2570, urgently call for immediate action to fix the ongoing phone and data network issues affecting our community.

For far too long, Oran Park and surrounding suburbs have suffered from unreliable mobile phone reception and extremely poor data connectivity. These persistent issues disrupt our daily lives, undermine business operations, and jeopardise the safety and well-being of our residents. In an area that continues to grow rapidly, with families, professionals, and local businesses investing in its future, the lack of basic telecommunications infrastructure is unacceptable.

Many in our community experience:

• Frequent dropped calls and poor voice quality,

• Inconsistent or unusable mobile data—especially during peak hours,

• Barriers to working or studying from home due to connectivity issues,

• Interrupted access to mobile-based health and emergency services, and

• Significant disruption to small businesses relying on EFTPOS and internet services.

The consequences are serious. Parents worry about being unable to contact their children. Workers are unable to meet job demands. Businesses lose customers due to failed transactions. Vulnerable residents may be cut off during emergencies. This situation is not just an inconvenience—it’s a daily challenge and a potential risk to public safety.

We request the immediate attention of all relevant telecommunications providers, including Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone, as well as local, state, and federal representatives. We demand:

• A formal investigation into the root causes of poor coverage in Oran Park,

• Urgent infrastructure upgrades, such as new or improved mobile towers,

• Clear communication with residents on progress and timelines, and

• Inclusion of Oran Park in long-term digital infrastructure planning.

It is time for meaningful action. Oran Park deserves the same level of basic service that other communities across Australia expect and receive.
