AI assistant for writing your petition
The blank page is the hardest part of starting a petition. The AI assistant writes a first draft from a few answers, sharpens the text you already have, suggests titles, makes a cover image, translates the petition and helps you write updates later. You review and edit everything, and nothing is published until you say so.
Write the petition text
On the create page, two buttons sit above the Petition text field: "Help me write" and "Improve with AI".
"Help me write" asks four questions. Only the first one is required:
- What do you want to change?
- Who can decide this, and when is the decision made?
- Why does this matter now, and who is affected?
- Why does this touch you personally?
Choose "Generate draft" and you get a petition text plus a short list of suggested titles. "Use this title and text" puts both into the form in one click.
Improve a draft you already wrote
"Improve with AI" takes your own text and refines it. You can add a new fact or angle, choose a direction with one or more chips, and say whether the result should be shorter, the same length or longer.
The chips are "Sharpen the demand", "Frame as a solution", "Emphasize the stakes", "Calmer tone" and "Concise & readable", and "Write your own" lets you describe the change in your own words. Once there is text in the field, a "Suggest a petition name" button appears as well.
Generate a cover image
The Cover image block has a "Generate with AI" button. Describe what the petition is about and pick a style: Editorial illustration, Photographic, Flat vector, Watercolor, or Minimal and abstract.
An image takes roughly a minute. You can generate up to two images per day, and you see the result before you accept it with "Use this image". Photorealistic results get a label burned into the image saying they were generated by AI, so people can see they are not real photographs.
Translate, and find the right recipient
Choose "Translate this petition into other languages" in the petition menu, pick the target language and choose "Translate with AI". The draft translation appears in the editor for you to read and correct before publishing, and the language versions share one signature list.
On the create page, a "Suggest recipients" button proposes who could receive the petition. The suggestions cover organizations, public bodies and official roles only, never named private individuals, and you still have to check that the recipient has authority over the issue.
Updates and media drafts
The assistant does not stop at launch. On the update form, the same "Help me write" and "Improve with AI" buttons turn your news into a clear update for signatories, and "Analyze update with AI" gives feedback on it before you publish.
The separate Media assistant in the petition menu drafts a news tip for one journalist, a press release for several, or three social media posts. It uses your petition's real title, signature count and web address, and it will not invent a quote: anything in quotation marks has to be something you actually said.
Who this helps
A parent who has never written anything for the public before can describe the problem in three sentences and get a structured petition with a clear demand. An experienced campaigner uses "Improve with AI" to cut an overlong draft in half, and the translation to reach neighboring countries in a weekend instead of a month.
Limits worth knowing
- AI writes from what you tell it. If a fact is not in your answers, it should not be in the petition, so check every number and name.
- A suggestion is never inserted or published on its own. You have to accept it.
- Cover images are limited to two per day.
- Petitions, updates and translations are checked against our community guidelines before they go live, whether a human or the AI wrote them.
Questions and answers
Do I have to use the AI assistant?
No. Every AI button is optional. You can write the whole petition yourself and never open the assistant.
Is the text published automatically?
No. A suggestion appears in a preview with a "Review before inserting" note. Nothing changes in your petition until you choose "Use this text".
How many cover images can I generate?
Up to two images per day. One image takes about a minute, and you can close the dialog and keep editing while it is being made.
Can people tell that an image was made by AI?
Photorealistic images carry a visible label that says they were generated by AI and are not real photographs. The clearly illustrated styles are not labeled, because nobody mistakes them for photographs.
Who is responsible for what the AI writes?
You are. The draft is a starting point: check every fact, cut what does not fit and rewrite it in your own words before you publish.
