We are not giving up
2024-07-04 11:15:13Although Council Member Shekar Krishnan rejected our petition, support letters and the unanimous community board vote in favor of honoring Patrolman Frank Romanella, we are not giving up on honoring his life and sacrifice. We have presented this to the NYPD Columbia Association and are collaborating on an appropriate tribute. We will keep you posted.

Undeterred
2024-02-03 15:01:52Thank you all again for signing the petition. It was presented to Queens Community Board 4 in October, who unanimously voted to support our request to name the street after Frank Romanella and passed on to Council Member Shekar Krishnan's office. They told us that if the community board supported it, it would be inserted in the December 2023 conaming bill. When the bill was printed, Romanella's name was missing. When we inquired as to why, we were asked for "more information about his community service." We explained that his community service consisted of protecting New York City and that he meets the three criteria set forth by the Department of Transportation: He was deceased, a NYC resident and a uniformed member of a city agency who died in the line of duty. After that, we were ghosted by Council Member Krishnan who last month voted in favor of anti-police bills.
We are still working on honoring Ptl. Romanella and hope to have some good news soon.
