Thank you so much for your support. It didn't work out. My sacking has been confirmed yesterday. The univeristy is steaming ahead not caring much about the natural sciences. The world is rapidly changing.
Look after yourself, your familities and your friends! Jochen

2025-10-02 23:00:39Dear esteemed colleague and friend!
Thanks for this fantastic support both from inside Flinders and across the world! More than 50 signatures from the best scientists around! This is very touching, no matter what happens in the end!
Sadly, the bloom is still around after 6 1/2 months (in agreement with my model predictions). While this is devastating, will still neither know its full impact nor how the marine ecosystem will eventually adjust to it.
I started to write a book on the toxic algal bloom. Apart from the science, this book will feature many other relevant and revealing connections.
The University will make a decision on my sacking and that of 8 other marine/natural scientists by the end of October. I guess this will turn up in the media. I will continue to inform you through this channel.
Keep this petition running by sharing it with colleagues that I missed!
All the best, Jochen
