As a truck driver over the years I have seen the problems and it needs to stop. My ex. bosses used to tell me to use it as it saves a lot of time.(not if you get stuck).I no longer use it in an HGV.It also keeps the police and other services from doning their job for hours costing the forces a lot of money,maybe a heavy fine to the comany and driver would change things.As has already been said it is an incedent waiting to happen.

Your comment carries special weight as you are an HGV driver who has used Sutton Bank. You've hit the nail on the head when you suggest its the managers who need to be called to account. What is the aggregate cost of HGV vehicle wear, risk to all drivers, wasted police and drivers time etc I wonder. Does the shortcut really warrant this cost?
