These rates are unaffordable. Significantly higher than inflation and not fair and equitable, especially since the special rate payers extra levy is assisting the city to deliver on their duties to the tax payers in the area. Cut your own expenditure and bring in DOGE for an investigation of wasted expenditure before you over tax!Jeanine Amsel (2025-04-24)
#1624
These random levies should not be allowed. If the council can get away with this, they will continue to think up things they can charge levies on. Where will this stop!Michael Brinkley (2025-04-24)

The amount of the increase is unrealistic. There are 1,7 m homes paying nothing. It is unrealistic to continue to build sub economic housing and expect the same diminishing percentage to carry this ever increasing load,John Morley (2025-04-24)
#1639
The proposed increase is unaffordable. Will not be able to continue living hereTessa De vletter (2025-04-24)

I agree with the aboveKirstin Obery (2025-04-24)
#1718
The increases are excessive. Ratepayers can simply no longer afford them. The city must rather engage in a cost cutting exercise getting rid of posts, reining in free services and eliminating unnecessary expenditure.Robyn Fudge (2025-04-24)
#1720
I am really unhappy with proposed rate hikes ,we simply can't afford these increases they are outrages and what the heck is a cleaning charge ,I don't even have domestic help at home as we can't afford it the city is bleeding us dryCheryl Cost (2025-04-24)

The rates are excessive and do not represent my salary increase that I have not received the last 2 years.Paul Vink (2025-04-24)
#1735
I'm signing because we are already over burdened with the high cost of living, tax increased just recently, basic water charge that is already being deducted for water we're not using. It's disgraceful for us pensioners.Alicia Riddles (2025-04-24)
#1736
My income has decreased in some instances and remained stagnant in others since 2020. I am unable to afford these proposed increasesTracey Saunders (2025-04-24)

#1756
The BP proposed changes and increases are irrational and unreasonable.Garth Venter (2025-04-24)
#1758
Our rates are already way to high especially living on an extremely busy thoroughfare what was once once a quiet farm road (Steenberg road) has now become a mini highway and we will never get the price for our house like the other houses are getting in our area and yet our rates still keep climbing!Sue De Klerk (2025-04-24)
#1761
These proposed increases are heinous. As pensioners we have a fixed income. The burden of these percentages is onerous & not sustainable.Sharon Drummond (2025-04-24)
#1762
I am vehemently opposed to punitive fixed tariffs. I personally struggle to meet my fiscal responsibilities every month. And this will cripple myself and the people I support. If you think this won’t encourage a brain drain and job losses to menial labour, then you have been very short sighted.
Mickie Birkett (2025-04-24)
#1772
It's an unrealistic increaseMartin Jowell (2025-04-24)

We pay to much already, we’re promised that when dams reached 80% , the water levee would go, but it never did.Brad Adamo (2025-04-24)
#1777
The budget will cripple us as homeowners - you are taxing us to deaf as the middle-income group, If the Cities procurement does not buy at 10 times inflated cost any shortfall will be covered.Riana de Wet (2025-04-24)
#1785
We get electricity directly from Eskom. Why should our rates subsidize the rest of Cape Town! It is Theft and a double increase!Rhein Snyman (2025-04-24)
#1786
Stop taxing the wealthy because you are chasing them away as next year your tax collection will dramatically drop as they leave the country. CUT GOVERNMENT SPENDING, STOP BBBEE WHICH COSTS A FORTUNE. PROBLEM SOLVED!! ANC keep making these shitty decisions and your WILL be non-existent very soon.Karin Telo (2025-04-24)
#1787
It is not realistic and most of us will not be able to afford all the increases, rates and taxes, electricity, medical aids and many more. All this will result in not be able to contribute to savings for retirement and we will not afford this when retired.Sanrich Germishuys (2025-04-24)

-Breach of the Municipal Systems Act-Unrealistic Rates Increases
-Excessive Increases Over Time
Hilton Fleming (2025-04-24)
#1792
I am a homeowner, and after applying for a reduced valuation, the city completely ignored my application, they say my house is R2,5 million worth, but after I had valuations done by independant valuaters, they all said my house is not worth more than R2 million. So I am being ripped off already, so stuff this increase, I will vote against itReynard Schonken (2025-04-24)
#1795
Only rates going up not salariesMollen Danota (2025-04-24)
#1796
This budget is designed to mislead - fixing costs to property values rather than consumption is a wealth tax. Rather just incr our rates which are vat exemptCostas Vayanos (2025-04-24)
