I fully support this petition because I have seen firsthand the dedication and impact of Anova Health Institute employees especially Retention Counselors, Retention coaches and thise who test for HIV in our communities. These workers have been the backbone of many public health efforts, yet they continued to work under unstable conditions until they got retrenched when USAID was pulled back by their President. It's only fair and just that their commitment be recognized through permanent employment. Absorbing them into the Department of Health and the City of Johannesburg structures will not only improve service delivery but also restore dignity and job security to those who served us daily.

Throughout my tenure, I have served with unwavering commitment, compassion, and professionalism—always prioritizing the wellbeing of patients and communities across Johannesburg and beyond. Our efforts were not merely routine duties, but a calling to make a tangible difference in the public healthcare system.

Our dedication is reflected in the significant progress made towards the UNAIDS 95-95-95 goals. Together, we helped shift the City’s performance from meeting the first 90% target to achieving the current high success rates in the third 95%, a testament to our tireless work in testing, treatment initiation, Data capturing and viral suppression.

This progress did not happen by chance; it was driven by experienced, passionate healthcare workers who consistently went above and beyond despite challenges. Our integration into City and provincial clinics was seamless, and we worked side by side with permanent staff, providing essential services that the public depends on.

We are not outsiders—we are part of the healthcare system’s fabric. Therefore, we ask the City of Johannesburg and the Department of Health to acknowledge our contribution by absorbing us into permanent roles. This move would not only secure the livelihoods of dedicated professionals, but also ensure continuity and stability in service delivery, which ultimately benefits the communities we all serve.

We are ready to continue serving with the same commitment and excellence, and we respectfully request that our proven track record be recognized.
